I run Windows XP SP2 and use Firefox almost exclusively for browsing. Then I downloaded Ad-Aware's anniversary edition via CNET, which found a Win32Trojan.TDSS, which it seemed to be able to delete on reboot, however a new scan showed it was back again. I ran ATF-cleaner for Firefox (which I'm using) and IE (just to be sure). I can't pinpoint when or how it finds it's way back in, so I'm hoping you guys can track it and kill it. It finds 8 items (trojans) which it "quarantines", and after a reboot, everything looks like it's more or less back to normal. I tried cleaning with Malwarebyte's Anti-malware several times now, also in Safe Mode. However, it disables my task manager (by creating an admin account different from mine to do so), and it locks regedit. It says that it won't be able to remove any problems unless I register (which obviously I ignored).
The graphics are different and it isn't removed with Malwarebyte's Anti-MalwareĪs of late I've been getting this annoying so-called program to pop up and act as if it is scanning my system. For starters, this is not the Malware Doc mentioned here: Malware Doctor Removal.
